Attraction of the Week – Top of the Rock
30 Rockefeller Plaza is the centerpiece of New York City’s famous Rockefeller Center. The building, commonly known as 30 Rock, is the home of NBC Headquarters and NBC Studios. The popular TV show 30 Rock, staring Tina Fey, took place in this building, surrounding a fictional sketch comedy show.
The top of the skyscraper serves as an observation deck, Top of the Rock, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York City. Top of the Rock offers amazing views of the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center and all of lower Manhattan on the South side, and a breathtaking view of Central Park on the North side.
Sunset is the most popular time to visit TotR, so the crowds may be a little heavier at the time leading up to sunset. If you want to avoid a crowd, and enjoy probably the best views you can get in the city, go to Top of the Rock in the morning.
The Observation Deck opens at 8 am every day and closes at Midnight. The last elevator up leaves at 11 pm. New York Pass holders can enjoy a Fast Track line to bypass the busy ticket line.
